Organizational Structure

MEMBERS

Members are from Oklahoma and originally from most of the Latin American nations. Members subscribing to the mission and purposes of the organization join and remain as members in good standing by paying annual membership dues as set by the Executive Committee. Prospective members will be evaluated and accepted by majority approval. 

 

DUES

$45 annually paid in the month of January.  Members are encouraged to contribute with whatever amount they wish to assist the activities and programs of the organization.

AUTHORITY AND DUTIES OF OFFICERS

 

President:

Preside at meetings of LATINAS WIN. Create and appoint committee chairs and committee members. Initiate programs, activities, projects that are coherent with the organization's Mission.

 

Vice President:

Assume the duties of the President in her absence. Perform duties required by the President. Become President for remainder of term in the event the office becomes vacant. Assist the President actively in the organization of programs and activities proposed. Teamwork is expected.

 

Treasurer:

The Treasurer oversee the management of the funds collected from the memberships and donations to the organization. Keeps records and prepares payments or reimbursements when needed. Prepares a report of the funding for every meeting.

 

Historian:

Keeps track of all events and activities. Historian shall keep a book or journal with all flyers, pictures, newspaper articles, and all information related to LATINAS WIN activities. Will share information with the Publicity Committee to generate content in the Newsletter, social media and web site.

 

Secretary:

Keeps records of what is discussed and /or presented at every meeting. Takes attendance and prepares and sends the Minutes to all members. Along with President determines date and time of next meeting and sends to all with Agenda items.  Assist the President and Vice President with various organizational procedures and logistics. 

 

TERMS

Officers are elected for three terms and may succeed themselves in same office for another term. Elections will take place at the completion of the term and officers will be elected by majority vote.

 

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

Members of the Executive Committee may need to meet to discuss urgent issues that necessitate assessment, review and agreement prior to holding a general membership meeting. It will be comprised by the President and/or Vice President and two or three Committee Chairs

 

COMMITTEES’ DUTIES 

 

Education Committee:

 

Committee members will keep informed and report to the general membership about issues that pertain to the education of Hispanic American students in Norman Public Schools.  Chair and members will also keep updated information on programs, activities and needs of The University of Oklahoma's Hispanic American students and international students from Latin American countries. 

 

Scholarships Committee:

This committee will coordinate the selection process to award the scholarships with funding collected by the members of the organization.

 

Programming Committee:

This committee works on the planning of activities, such as the guest speakers, bilingual (English/Spanish) classes and support MOSAICOS Program.

 

Publicity Committee:

This committee shall work on publicity, videos, ads and fliers design, Newsletter, Social Media and web page maintenance. Will work in coordination with the Executive Committee and Historian. Some of the duties are the planning of publicity strategies, writing and producing presentations and press releases.

 

Public Relations Committee:

Members of this Committee would promote and maintain a favorable relationship with the public.  For example, they will be charged with sending letters of appreciation to guest presenters, to student and other volunteers.  A public relations activity can also take place by presenting the organization and/or its programs to other Norman associations, schools and OU departments, faculty and staff.  This will bring visibility and advocacy to LATINAS WIN pursuits.
